The Stinger organization started in 2009 by the efforts of community parents to bring Rosholt into the Mid State Youth Football League and make tackle football and cheerleading available for our youth. Through the efforts and generosity of area individuals and businesses, funds were raised to purchase equipment to support three football teams.
In 2009, there were two JPW and one PW team. There were 51 players which included 12 from our neighboring community of Wittenberg. In 2010, we had the highest level of participants with 65 players which allowed us to have four teams. In 2011, Wittenberg left the Stingers and started their own league team. Rosholt went down to two teams and has managed two teams each year since. The 2013 season marked the first year the PW team made the league playoffs. That team finished in 4th. We have been in the football playoffs the last four consecutive years with our best finish of 2nd place in 2015.
In 2011, cheer leading was added with 10 cheer participants. The addition of cheer leading marked not only the start of organized cheer at the football games, but also league competition. The Cheer& Stunt team has been successful and finished the 2016 season with a 4th place finish in league completion.
